The Nillumbik Shire Council is offering grants to support awareness raising community led projects in the Nillumbik community that will be undertaken during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
Nillumbik Shire Council leads the wider community in supporting the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign each year. This global initiative aims to galvanise individuals, communities and organisations to address gender inequalities and eradicate violence against women and girls around the world.

Up to $500 from a grant pool of $5,000
What can be funded?
- Artist, consultant or provider fees
- Arts and cultural activities
- Community programs
- Consultant, provider or artist fees
- Environmental initiatives
- Events
- Indigenous cultural activities
- Initiatives to activate public spaces to create unique, dynamic and inclusive local places
- Virtual events
What won't be funded?
- A project, event or activity that is not being held in the Nillumbik municipal boundary, or does not directly benefit Nillumbik residents
- Ongoing payment of salaries, administrative, maintenance or organisational operating costs
- Duplication of existing projects, programs, initiatives or products currently funded by Council
- Retrospective funding or projects which are not being run during the 16 Days campaign
- Projects that are solely for fundraising purposes, without broader community benefit
- Competitions with no community component
- Prize money and awards
- Projects or events with a political or religious purpose
- Any project that purely promotes a business
- Events that are fully ticketed with no free or heavily subsidized component
- Single membership-based events that are not open to the public
- Alcohol or gambling related activities
- Projects that have received full funding from another source
- Applicants that are in debt to or have any outstanding commitments with the Shire.
- Successful projects will be promoted on Nillumbik Shire Council’s social media platforms.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Be an incorporated not-for profit organisation or community group that lives, works, studies, volunteers or plays in Nillumbik
- Be auspiced by an incorporated body for unincorporated groups
- Hold a minimum of $10 million public liability insurance
- Have acquitted and is compliant with all Nillumbik grants previously awarded by Council
- Project must be delivered and funds spent by 10 December 2022
