The Department of Primary Industries and Regions is offering the Connecting Communities Events Grant as part of the Family and Business Support Program to support rural communities in South Australia affected by drought and other adversity.
The aim of this program is to support gatherings that provide social connection and wellbeing assistance.
Funding Information
- Grants up to a maximum of $5,000 per event are available in the following categories:
- Medium to large scale community events that provide social connection, wellbeing or primary production resilience building activities and outcomes
- Community wellbeing and mental health development activities.
- A further $250,000 in funding for this grant was recently announced as part of the State Government’s $73 million Drought Support Package.
Eligible Activities
- Community events:
- Networking events
- Community festival
- Fundraising event
- Wellbeing and mental health activities:
- Mental Health First Aid training
- Personal wellbeing and resilience activities
Ineligible Activities
- Grants are not available for:
- meetings that are held regularly and not considered as events
- events that do not support the aims of the program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible groups within South Australia include (but are not limited to):
- farmer groups, including Agricultural Bureau branches and farming systems groups
- industry organisations
- community groups such as agricultural show societies, progress associations, sports
- clubs, service clubs
- local government
- To apply for a grant under the program eligible applicants must:
- be an incorporated organisation
- have a current Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Applicants must provide relevant information and a description of the proposed event including:
- who the event is being held for and why
- how it will assist the rural community
- how it will be publicised and promoted in the community
- involvement of local people and businesses in the event
- budget
- target/estimated attendance.
