The Leeds Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its Community Action Microgrants to support citizen-led projects and community development activity aimed at promoting equality, inclusion, and community cohesion.
Funding Information
- Grant size for constituted groups: up to £2,500
- Grant size for unconstituted groups: up to £500
- Duration: up to 1 year
Eligible Activities
- Citizen-led projects and community development activity aimed at:
- promoting equality and inclusion
- directly supporting disadvantaged groups
- working to reduce poverty
- increasing connections between people at a neighbourhood level.
- One-off projects supporting your group or organisation’s development, including your purpose and governance, building effective leadership or networks, improving finance and operations, impact measurement, improving policies, and identifying partnership/collaboration opportunities.
Ineligible Activities
- Activity and costs that have already taken place
- Activity which might be regarded as discriminatory and/or excludes some people without reason
- Activity that promotes a particular religious point of view
- Activity primarily for the benefit of animals
- Capital appeals for building projects
- Grant-making to other organisations and/or individuals, or applications from individuals
- Statutory organisations or activity
- Overseas organisations, expeditions or overseas travel
Eligibility Criteria
- Not-for-profit incorporated/registered Community Organisations from the third sector such as charities, CIO, CIC limited by guarantee, or a charitable company. You will be registered with the Charity Commission, Companies House or Mutual Public Register (FCA).
- Organisations that are constituted but are not incorporated or a registered charity can only apply if your annual income is less than £10,000, and if securing the grant would not take you above this threshold for the current financial year.
- Small unconstituted groups can only apply if your annual income is less than £10,000, and if securing the grant would not take you above this threshold for the current financial year.
- For-profit organisations, statutory organisations or activity (e.g. schools and hospitals) and overseas organisations cannot be funded. Companies should be limited by guarantee and clearly constituted for public benefit. CICs should have an asset lock with a designated company in place. Any unincorporated organisation cannot use grant funds to directly employ staff, but funds can be used to hire freelance workers.
