The Auckland Council has launched the Papakura Small Grants Program.
Priorities
- The Papakura Local Board welcomes grant applications and community initiatives that align with the following local board plan priorities:
- Papakura’s history and heritage are highlighted and celebrated
- Celebrate Papakura’s Māori identity and culture
- Support Māori aspirations for kaitiakitanga over the natural environment for the benefit of current and future generations
- Support Māori to deliver community and economic benefits to the people of Papakura
- Building social cohesion and connection in a culturally diverse community
- To enhance community wellbeing
- Celebrate Papakura’s diverse community identity and culture
- More people enjoy the environment in and around the local parks, harbour and streams
- Champion climate change initiatives
- Papakura’s open spaces and recreation facilities are fit-for-purpose and well used
- Services and facilities meet the community’s needs now and into the future
- Papakura’s cycleways and walkways provide safe, connected, alternative routes
- To encourage thriving business communities in the local board area
- To nurture and grow relationships to achieve economic development outcomes
- Regular local cultural and arts experiences in Papakura
- Higher Priorities
- The Papakura Local Board will prioritise:
- Events or activities that are held in the local board area or can demonstrate the benefit for the local community.
- Applicants who have considered other sources of funding for their project and/or are collaborating with other community groups
- Projects or events that align with the healthy environment principles
- Projects started locally and benefiting residents of the local board area
- The Papakura Local Board will prioritise:
- Lower Priorities
- A lower priority will be given to applications:
- That are fundraising events
- Costs towards travel expenses, salaries, vehicles, electronic equipment and event catering
- The application has demonstrated little financial need for the project
- A lower priority will be given to applications:

- Grant value: $500 – $2000

Outcomes
- The grants programme supports the Waitākere Ranges Local Board Plan in these key areas:
- people
- environment
- community
- places
- economy.
Eligibility Criteria
- community organisations with a formal legal structure can apply
- groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
- applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
- Can apply, be accepted and be reimbursed after the project is completed.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The Papakura Local Board will not fund:
- Applicants who have failed to complete or provide a satisfactory accountability form from previous grants received
- Applicants with no quotes provided
- Applications applying for the same project or activity more than once in a financial year
- Applications requesting funding for projects or events which have already taken place
- Projects that have little to no benefit to the local board area
