Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) grants support medium to long term industry-led collaborations to develop important new technologies, products and services. CRC grants solve industry problems and deliver tangible outcomes.
Objectives
Cooperative Research Centre grants aim to:
- improve the competitiveness, productivity and sustainability of Australian industries, especially where Australia has a competitive strength
- deliver outcomes in line with government priorities, which are encourage and enable small and medium enterprise (SME) participation in collaborative research
- foster high quality research to help solve industry specific problems through collaborative research partnerships between industry entities and research organisations.
Funding & Benefits
- Cooperative Research Centre grants provide CRCs with up to 50% of the resources with no specified limit to funding available for each CRC.
- The CRC collaboration must at least match the amount of grant funding sought through cash and/or in-kind contributions. All in-kind contribution means non-cash resources provided by a participant to conduct the activities of the CRC. They may be staff or non-staff resources.
- Funding can be used to support the costs of:
- research
- salaries
- student placements
- commercialisation
- capital items, such as equipment.
- CRC Programme Funding cannot be used for the same activities or project previously or currently financed through any other funding scheme.
- CRCs will receive funding for a single, specified term to undertake the Activities or Project in the Funding Agreement.
Eligibility Criteria
- Collaborations from industry, research and community sectors can apply.
- A group of participants who have agreed to collaborate can submit an application.
- A CRC must have at least:
- one Australian industry organisation and
- one Australian research organisation.
