The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL, or the Department), is currently inviting applications for “Project to Reduce Child Labor in Agriculture in Mexico”. The project aims to fund a technical assistance project(s) in Mexico to reduce child labor in targeted agricultural communities.
ILAB leads DOL’s efforts to ensure that workers around the world are treated fairly and are able to share in the benefits of the global economy. ILAB’s mission is to advance workers’ rights and livelihoods, particularly for the world’s most vulnerable workers. ILAB’s Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (OCFT) conducts and funds research, develops strategic partnerships, and funds an international technical cooperation program to eliminate the worst forms of child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.
Outcomes
The project will use an area-based approach in Oaxaca and one of the following states: Jalisco, Nayarit, Puebla, and Veracruz to achieve the following key outcomes:
- Key stakeholders increase their respect, promotion, and/or protection of labor rights, specifically related to child labor, acceptable conditions of work for those of legal working age, and benefits afforded to registered workers under the law;
- Children and adolescents engaged in or at high risk of entering child labor and their families increase their participation in relevant education, training, and social protection programs.
Funding Information
- Approximately $7,000,000 total costs are expected to be available to fund approximately 1 award(s). Applicants may apply for a ceiling amount of up to $7,000,000 total costs.
- The period of performance is a maximum of 4 years (48 months) from the effective date of the award.
Eligibility Criteria
The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- Nonprofits, including faith-based organizations and community-based organizations
- Public/State Controlled Institutions of Higher Education
- Private Institutions of Higher Education
- For-Profit Organizations (other than Small Businesses)
- Non-US Entities, including public international organization(s) (PIO) (s), as described in 2 CFR46.
