The Burnie City Council is seeking expressions of interest for major events to enable partnerships for larger events that aim to have attendance of more than 3,000 patrons.
Objectives
- Major Event Grants are to support projects and events that:
- Strengthen the Burnie community through support of a diverse range of events that are responsive to community needs.
- Create a thriving and active community that is safe, healthy, and brings people together.
- Build the capacity of local organisations and strengthen partnerships within Burnie to support development, collaboration and sustainability of events in the city.
- Aim to have an attendance of more than 3,000 patrons
Funding Information
- Major Event Grants are unlimited in terms of the amount requested of Council. This is a competitive process however so please ensure the amount for which you apply is well considered to avoid disappointment. You may apply for multi-year grants, from 1 year to 3 years in duration.
What can be funded?
- Major Event grant funding is available, noting that applications must include any in-kind requests of Council as part of the application process.
- Examples of what you can use this funding for:
- Community, arts, sporting or cultural events bases in Burnie
- Community, arts, sporting or cultural events to assist Burnie residents or that encourage residents to be social, active or healthy
- Traditional events such as Christmas Parade and New Year’s Eve
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply for this grant, your group must:
- Preferably be a registered (incorporated) not-forprofit club or community group or have the support of one (an auspice); or
- Be a non-incorporated association able to satisfy Council that the applicant can receive, manage and acquit the grant in an appropriately accountable manner
- The activity will take place in Burnie
- Have public liability insurance of a minimum of $20 million
- Be able to demonstrate support in the community for your organisation or proposal
- Develop a plan detailing the benefits of what you are proposing Create an itemised budget, detailing how you will spend the funds
Ineligibility Criteria
- You cannot apply for this grant if:
- It is for purely commercial purposes
- You are a political party or group, or
- You are a government agency
