The Columbia Basin Trust is pleased to launch a call for proposals for the Environment Grants Program to community-initiated and community-supported projects in the areas of ecosystems, water and environmental education.
Your project must take place within Columbia Basin Trust’s region and demonstrate the ability to address one of the categories below. The Trust recognizes that acting on climate change is a significant priority for many Basin communities. The Trust welcomes project ideas in each of the project categories that address climate resilience.
- Ecosystems Projects
- Enhance or conserve ecosystems and/or species of conservation concern.
- Reduce the threat of significant invasive species to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
- Ecosystem related research projects that contribute to ecosystem conservation and/or enhancement.
- Water Projects
- Support the protection, enhancement or restoration of water resources that are important for species and/or ecosystems of conservation concern.
- Carry out water quality and/or quantity research that is scientifically sound and will contribute knowledge to the management of water resources for the benefit of ecosystems, communities and watershed stakeholders.
- Environmental Education Projects
- Provide education to Basin residents that helps develop an understanding and appreciation of the natural world and motivates ecologically informed decisions and actions.
Funding Information
Environment Grants program requests up to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants include non-profits, First Nation communities, municipalities and regional districts. Businesses may be considered depending on the project and its broad community impact. The project must not mainly benefit the interest of the business.
- Your project must take place within the Columbia Basin Trust region.
