The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is seeking applications for implementation of Nutrition Interventions in the regions of Niger.
Malnutrition is a major public health problem in Niger and an underlying cause of mortality in children under five. Children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) have a nine times higher risk of mortality than well-nourished children. These deaths result directly from malnutrition, but also indirectly from childhood illnesses such as diarrhea and pneumonia.
