The United Nations Human Settlements Programme in Nepal is seeking proposals to identify up to two NGO partners with demonstrated experience in the community mobilization and facilitating community-led interventions leading to restoration and construction of small-scale community infrastructure—such as irrigation canals, common facility centres, blacksmith workshops, small trails, water mills, chautaras, patis, etc. As well as experience in livelihood recovery, through skill and entrepreneurship development, supporting networks and establishing market linkage will be necessary.
Objectives
- Facilitating a community-led process for field verification, and validation of selected community infrastructure.
- Conducting site surveys and analysis for preparing detailed environment, social safeguard system assessments, under guidance of UN-Habitat field team.
- Coordinate and collaborate with communities in co-designing for restoration and construction of community infrastructure where required.
- Restoring or constructing selected infrastructure with active community participation.
- Facilitate community mobilization to identify key/potential skills and areas for livelihood upliftment.
Funding Information
- Total for 8 months project period with total funds of maximum USD 264,000 (USD 157,000 for Jajarkot and 107,000 for Rukum West).
Expected Outcomes
- The Implementing Partner will be undertaking main activities as follows (but not limited to):
- Earthquake-affected community resilience enhanced in selected districts and local governments:
- Livelihoods opportunities created, and market revitalized through, community infrastructure and other livelihoods interventions
- Establish Common Facility Centres
- Establish local Market Centre/collection centre
- Reconstruction/construction of water mills, small irrigation canals, local roads, trails, chautara and patis.
- Earthquake-affected community resilience enhanced in selected districts and local governments:
Eligibility Criteria
- Legal Status:
- Certificate of registration/incorporation i.e.
- Proof of registration in Country of Origin.
- Proof of registration of Country of operation
- Proof of country operational presence
- Organization profile and details
- Clear organization profile and structure of the organization indicating:
- Organization’s vision, mission, and objectives
- Management structure
- Members of the Governing Board and their Designations duly certified by the Corporate Secretary, or its equivalent document
- Proof of membership to professional associations if any.
