The Project “Supporting Winter Preparation and Renewable Energy at the Local Level in Ukraine” is implemented by the Czech humanitarian organization “People in Need” in cooperation with the public organizations “Center for Environmental Initiatives “Ecodia” and “Ecoclub” with financial support from the European Commission to strengthen local energy security, restore district heating systems and implement renewable energy solutions in communities affected by the conflict.
The main objective of the competition is to support local initiatives that increase the sustainability and energy independence of communities by implementing environmentally friendly energy solutions.
Objectives
- Environmental responsibility: supporting renewable energy and environmentally sustainable solutions to minimize negative environmental impacts and create conditions for sustainable development of communities.
- Sustainability and development: initiatives should be aimed at long-term improvement of living conditions, ensuring energy independence, and adapting to challenges related to conflict and climate change.
- Social cohesion and inclusion: projects should contribute to strengthening community ties, involving all population groups, especially youth, in decision-making processes and community development.
Funding Information
- Estimated grant amount: 225 thousand hryvnias.
- Duration: August 15 – November 30, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
- The NGO or initiative must operate in Ukraine.
- Funding will be provided to Ukrainian NGOs that are registered and operating in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. If the initiative does not have a registered NGO, a Memorandum of Support must be signed with a registered youth or other NGO to which funds will be allocated.
- The NGO must have non-profit status.
- The application for grant support must comply with the objectives and principles, programs and contain a description of the project results.
- The NGO must operate in one of the targeted communities and/or demonstrate knowledge of the context, local needs and problems.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Organizations registered in other countries are not eligible to apply.
- The NGO and its members cannot represent or be affiliated with by any political party or armed (military) forces, appointed, elected public officials, or any religious denominations.
Evaluation Criteria
- The likelihood of successful project implementation and its long-term effectiveness are assessed. The following are taken into account:
- Clarity of goals and compliance with expected results.
- The feasibility of the implementation plan and the feasibility of the measures.
- Ability to ensure project sustainability after funding ends.
- Local community engagement and support plan.
