The European Commission is seeking proposals for its “Support to the development and implementation of FOOD 2030 – a European research and innovation policy framework for food and nutrition security” with an aim to underpin the transformation of food systems in Europe so as to make them ‘future-proof’: sustainable, resilient, performant, inclusive, diverse, and competitive.
Food and Nutrition Security is a growing challenge characterized by urgency and complexity due to the compounded effects of population growth, urbanization, migration, resource scarcity and climate change affecting the food systems in Europe and beyond. Research and Innovation (R&I) is key to finding solutions to sustainably feeding the planet in a changing world.

Funding Information
The Commission considers that proposals requesting a contribution from the EU of up to EUR 4 million would allow this challenge to be addressed appropriately.
Expected Impact
The CSA will serve to mobilise a wide diversity of actors and experts to:
- raise awareness and help increase the outreach and impacts of European R&I outcomes and initiatives in the field of Food and Nutrition Security.
- contribute to strengthen R&I policy coherence and programme alignment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Legal entities established in the following countries and territories will be eligible to receive funding through Horizon 2020 grants:
- The Member States (MS) of the European Union (EU), including their overseas departments
- The Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) linked to the Member States: Anguilla, Aruba, Bermuda, Bonaire, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Falkland Islands, French Polynesia, French Southern and Antarctic Territories , Greenland, Montserrat, New Caledonia, Pitcairn Islands, Saba, Saint Barthélémy, Saint Helena, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Eustatius, Saint Maarten, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands ,Turks and Caicos Islands, Wallis and Futuna.
- International European interest organisations4 will also be eligible to receive funding from Horizon 2020.
- Legal entities established in countries not listed above will be eligible for funding when such funding is explicitly foreseen in the call.
