The Evelyn Trust seeks to support medical research and health and wellbeing projects in Cambridge shire. The Trust aims to benefit a broad range of projects over time. Grants must benefit charitable or non-profit making organizations, not individuals.
The Trust is increasingly interested in medical research and health and wellbeing projects that will deliver transformational change, especially demonstration or pilot projects.
The Evelyn Trust supports the Cambridge Research Training Fellowship program and there is a separate application process for this.
Funding Information
- Each year, they hope to make grants totaling between £500,000 and £1.5m.
- They also consider applications for any amount, up to about £250,000.
The Evelyn Trust awards medical grants for:
- Clinical research projects – Towards the cost of specific, planned, and well managed medical research programs especially for younger researchers or newly established researchers seeking to obtain their first funding.
- Medical support staff and teams to achieve a step-change in service – Towards the cost of medical/care teams and staff engaged in specific innovative, transformational programs to provide medical and healthcare support to the public.
What Evelyn Trust Don’t Support
- Projects where alternative funding from a non-charitable organization is or should be available.
- Research funding for fields already well supported by other charities, including much heart and cancer work.
- Projects submitted by well-established researchers with good funding track records and alternative funding sources.
- Projects that are submitted by established research charities to raise research funds.
- Ongoing overheads, administrative or maintenance costs, VAT, or professional fees.
- General funds, non-specific appeals, endowment funds, conduit organizations, or appeals by circular.
- Costs of meetings, conferences, conference fees, exhibitions, concerts, travel, expeditions
- Organizations based outside the object area.
- Support on an ongoing basis.
- The purchase of land.
- Causes with a strong political association.
About Evelyn Trust
- Over the last 15 years, they have made grants to charities and non-profit making organizations. Each year, they hope to make grants totaling between £500,000 and £1.5m. they also consider applications for any amount, up to about £250,000.
- Established as a charity in 1920, the Evelyn Trust owned and managed the Evelyn Hospital in Cambridge. In 2003 the hospital was sold and the funds invested. From these funds they make grants to support medical research and health and wellbeing projects in Cambridgeshire. They aim to support a broad range of projects. The Trust is increasingly interested in medical research and health and wellbeing projects that deliver transformational change, especially pilot or demonstration projects.
- Grants are ‘one-off’ for a particular project and are available to non-profit making organizations, not individuals. They seek projects for which funding from the Evelyn Trust is significant in the context of the project and makes the difference to the project’s success. Funding can be for capital and people costs relating to frontline work.
