The Central American Women’s Fund (FCAM) has launched applications for “Transforming presents to build futures” to promote the sustainability of collectives, organizations and networks of young women, and young trans and non-binary people, promoting access to financing to support their struggles and specific agendas.
Through different actions they find that girls, women, trans people and non-binary people actively participate in the construction of environments conducive to their lives and the lives of other people. Many of them have found ways to actively participate in the construction of a dignified and fulfilling life either individually or collectively. The fact of accessing resources and opportunities is supposed to materialize his proposals for change policies, with the aim of transforming his realities.
The collaborative approach is based on strengthening the movements of women and feminists, which includes promoting and supporting forms of relationships that are more inclusive, diverse and solidaristic, that challenge not only the formal powers, but also the internal ones of the movements, such as adult centrism. And others, in order to advance in the social transformations they aspire to.
Priorities
- Proposals focused on promoting environmental and climate justice should focus on at least one of the following priority areas:
- Strengthen the leadership, resilience and capacities of women, trans persons and non-binaries to implement collaborative and inclusive initiatives on impact and capacity building on climate solutions with gender justice.
- Vincular and promote alliances between organizations of the movements of climate justice, environmental justice and the rights of women for the advocacy and collective collaboration on climate solutions with gender justice.
- Influencing governments and decision makers (community, local, departmental, regional or national) to put forward climate solutions with gender justice.
Types of Program
- Program justice and sustainability
- Since this program they will support initiatives that contribute to work, strengthening and the agendas of organizations that build resilience in the face of the environmental and climate crisis, the oppressive economic systems and the limited justice of hegemonic punitiveness.
- The organizations, networks and groups that support the event, lead and build integral alternatives that link gender justice with economic, environmental, climatic and restorative justice.
- For this program they understand by:
- Economic justice: one that, from a systemic logic and a feminist approach, allow them to understand the causes of inequalities and build proposals for the sustenance of life.
- Restorative and healing justice: seeks the recovery of the collective tissue, putting at the center the victims of the traumas of the violence and their healing processes, with the end that their voices are heard, connected with the processes and practices of reparation or healing, and it guarantees no repetition of the things you suffered.
- Environmental justice: the quest to guarantee the right to water, to food or to a clean, healthy and safe environment, as well as the enjoyment of the benefits and opportunities that nature provides, the recognition and support of girls, women, trans persons and non-binaries to conserve and defend their territory, the implementation of environmentally just alternatives and in accordance with their identities, traditions and cosmovisions, and finally the participation in environmental political decisions.
- Climatic justice: implicitly recognizing the need for an equitable management of global natural resources and calling for an understanding of climate change in relation to social and environmental justice. This includes topics such as equality, human rights, collective rights and historical responsibility, and the way they relate to the causes of climate change, and to the processes of adaptation and mitigation.
- Program of Freedom and Autonomy
- This program focuses on supporting organizations that promote and defend the right of individuals to decide on their lives, bodies, identities, orientations and expressions of gender, which, in addition, respond to the growing fundamentalist and anti-derechos movement, avoiding major democratic retrogressions. in the spaces and rights of the cows.
- They seek to support organizations that, from feminist, decolonial and intersectional perspectives, work for the right to decide, for sexual work and for sexo-generic identities and their diverse intersections.
- In addition, they will support communication initiatives focused on the creation and diffusion of narratives with feminist, decolonial and intersectional perspectives that contribute to transforming public opinion, influencing decision makers, and generating sociocultural changes that promote a life free from violence for girls, women, trans people and no binaries.
- Program Life in Dignity
- Through this program, FCAM will support the work, strengthening and agendas of collectives, organizations and/or networks of young women and trans and non-binary young people, who seek protection and the right to a life free from violence (structural, physical, emotional, symbolic and economic), the right to migrate in safe and dignified conditions, the rights of workers in the workplace and in the home, and the recognition of the work of those in care.
- In addition, they will support initiatives focused on the creation and diffusion of narratives from feminist, decolonial and intersectional perspectives, which contribute to transforming public opinion, influencing people making decisions and generating sociocultural changes that promote a life free of violence for girls and women, Trans persons and no binaries.
Funding Information
- Program justice and sustainability
- Applications can be made for a maximum amount of USD 5,000.
- Program of Freedom and Autonomy
- Applications can be made for a maximum amount of USD 7,500.
- Program Life in Dignity
- Applications can be made for a maximum amount of USD 10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- They will prioritize support for 20 organizations led by young women, trans persons and non-binary youth under the age of 25, and will also support a limited number of 5 organizations led by young women, trans persons and non-binary youth under the age of 25 to 30.
- You can apply organizations, networks and alliances in Belgium, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama, led by young women, trans people and nonbinary young people. They will prioritize people of African descent, with disabilities, indigenous people, migrants, campesinas, domestic workers, labor workers, sexual workers, lesbians, bisexuals and feminists.
- The organizations must comply with the characteristics defined in the program and the type of financing to which it applies.
- The strategies, actions and methodologies will be determined by the applying organizations, as well as their thematic focuses and the beneficiary population.
- The call is directed to organizations of women and young persons that do not count on financing from the FCAM in el 2024.
- The organizations and collectives that enter this call do not need to count on legal persons to be able to access financing, but they those selected, must register with a shared account that will allow them to receive donations in the months of July and August of 2024.
- The FCAM finance proposals focused on human rights, no aid finance projects nor projects directed solely at the generation of monetary resources.
- They do not support individual initiatives or humanitarian aid or entrepreneurship. Neither do they support organizations and/or political-party activities nor religious ones.
- Experience in articulation and collaborations with other key actors within and outside the women’s and feminist movements.
