Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance has launched the Funding Program for Civil Society Organizations.
Grant Types
- Six grants will be offered in Mali, including three Impact grants and three Accelerator
- Larger grants primarily for national-level CSOs and global CSOs who are working in fragile or humanitarian settings.
- Smaller grants for national or sub-national CSOs that are new to the field of immunisations and/or Gavi funding, that require support to establish themselves in the field of immunisations. These grants will support Gavi’s aim of working with a more diverse range of CSOs.
Purpose of the grants
- The general objectives of grants to civil society are:
- Increase demand and scale up uptake of vaccination services against preventable diseases, including Covid-19
- Will contribute to achieving at least 90% vaccination coverage of antigens
- The specific objectives are:
- Objective 1: To provide communities with accurate information about vaccine-preventable diseases including Covid-19 in order to generate interest in vaccination.
- Related activities:
- Develop the skills of health professionals, health workers community, community leaders and religious leaders to help them generate demand and combat rumors.
- Develop media and communication materials to raise awareness and counter rumors and misinformation around routine vaccination and the Covid-19 vaccine.
- Develop mobilization actions with local personalities.
- Generate and maintain community engagement and social mobilization.
- Objective 2: Strengthen the capacities of health districts in the provision of vaccination services (Covid-19 and Systematic Vaccination) through fixed, advanced, mobile or other innovative strategies adapted to the locality and context.
- Related activities:
- Participate in the organization of training at the level of Health Districts
- Organize innovative vaccination sessions, for example in the form of vaccination centers in markets, bus stations, displaced persons camps and schools.
- Facilitate the implementation of vaccines and inputs.
- Participate in the coordination, supervision and reporting of information from CSCOMs to health districts
Funding Information
- Total: $2,000,000
- Impact Grant: $500,000 and $600,000
- Accelerator: $100,000 and $150,000
Duration
- The expected duration of the application process, then pre-contractual development until signing the contract, is approximately three months. The subsidized projects could therefore start around January 2025 and must be completed by June 2026 at the latest.

- Candidate organizations must be officially declared in Mali as as a non-governmental and non-profit organization.
- Applications are only open to local CSOs active in Mali.
- Candidate organizations must be officially declared and recognized in Mali.
- Applicant organizations must have an office in Mali.
- Civil society organizations can be:
- Community-based organizations
- Faith-based organizations
- International or local non-profit organizations
- Civil society networks
- Local professional associations
- Organizations from the academic and research spheres
