Courtney S. Turner was born March 1st, 1896 in Atchison, Kansas to C.F.A. and Georgia Pierce Turner, two of the Atchison’s pioneer residents. Mr. Turner attended Atchison Public Schools and earned his first dime at the age of 6 as a substitute carrier for the Atchison Globe. He then had a distinguished career in the military and later achieved great success in both finance and real estate.
The trust prefers to give grants for specific purposes (buildings, capital equipment and programs) to be completed in a fixed number of short years. Only a limited number of grants will be considered for operational expenses. On multi-year requests, the trustees will consider only one-year requests at a time. All grants are 1 year in duration.

Payments & Expenditures
- If funding is awarded, the grantee will receive a Grant Agreement from the Bank of America, N.A., which will be published to your online grant application MyAccount. This agreement will need to be signed, and electronically sent back to Bank of America, N.A. in order for funding to be issued.
- All funds awarded will be expended during the year granted, in accordance with the schedule submitted.
Restrictions
- The Atchison Advisory Committee will only consider applications from 501(c)(3) organizations in the Atchison, Kansas community area.
- The Turner Trust may not fund your entire request.
- The application must indicate credible plans for raising the balance of the required funds.
- The Turner Trust insists on Atchison community support for any project they help fund.
