Applications are now open for the Reading Promotion Program in Rural Areas.
Object and Purpose
- This Resolution announces these grants for 2025, on a competitive basis, to promote reading, literature, and books in rural areas by supporting entities that develop reading promotion programs, with special emphasis on those carried out in municipalities at extreme risk of depopulation, meaning those with a population density of less than 8 inhabitants/km2.
- The purpose of these grants is to support reading promotion activity programs in rural areas carried out by non-profit institutions, covering, through capital transfers, the costs of equipment or investments necessary for the execution of said programs, in such a way that they facilitate or enhance the work of reading promotion, in accordance with the provisions of section.
Funding Information
- The amount of the grants called for will be, at most, 250,000 euros.
Beneficiaries
- These grants may be applied for by foundations, associations, and non-governmental organizations (non-profit institutions) that are not part of the public sector, legally constituted and registered in the corresponding public registry, with tax residence in Spain, and that can prove they have carried out activities to promote reading in rural areas.
- Entities that incur in any of the prohibitions under the terms provided for in article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies, nor that have outstanding payment obligations for reimbursement of subsidies under the terms established in article 21 of the Regulation of the aforementioned law, approved by Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21, will not be able to obtain the status of beneficiaries.
- The following are expressly excluded from the subsidies regulated in this Resolution:
- Natural persons, companies, public administrations, their bodies self-employed workers, public companies and other public entities.
- Foundations, associations and non-governmental organizations (non-profit institutions) whose statutory scope is exclusively municipal, local or autonomous.
- Communities of property, groups of natural or legal persons, of a public or private, as well as other entities without legal personality.
