Are you looking to enhance biodiversity on your school grounds, this year? Apply for funding to support a planting project as part of the Greenbelt Biodiversity action.
For the Greenbelt Biodiversity action, students are invited to conduct a biodiversity inventory and plant native species on their school grounds. While this action is focused on Ontario’s Greenbelt, biodiversity inventories are still a powerful way to support conservation initiatives in your region!

There are 15 grants available of three different sizes:
- Major grant: 1 x $5000
- Medium prize: 4 x $1000
- Small prize: 10 x $500
Eligibility Criteria
- This Contest is open to all residents of Canada who are 18 years of age or older during the entry period. By participating in this Contest, entrants acknowledge compliance with, and agree to be bound by, these Contest Rules. Entrants who do not comply with any of the Contest Rules are subject to disqualification by the Sponsor, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. All applicable federal, provincial and/or local laws and regulations shall apply to the Contest and your participation.

To be eligible your school must:
- Be located on, or in close proximity to, the Ontario Greenbelt.
- Add and plan to complete the Greenbelt Biodiversity action on the EcoSchools Certification Application.
- Conduct a plant inventory on your school grounds.
- Be willing to host a small planting event in the Spring (supported by EcoSchools Canada and the Greenbelt Foundation).
