Henderson-Massey Quick Response Grant Programme [New Zealand]

The Auckland Council is pleased to announce an open call for the Henderson-Massey Quick Response Grant Programme to support those involved in the delivery of projects, activities and services that benefit Aucklanders.

Funding Priorities
  • They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
    • Neighbourhood centres foster a sense of identity and place.
    • Arts, events and cultural activities reflect the many heritages.
    • They enable innovation and enterprise.
    • People know each other and feel connected in their neighbourhoods.
    • Strong community organisations are making a difference.
    • They embrace and value diversity and difference.
    • Mana whenua and mataawaka rights are acknowledged and their needs and aspirations are widely known.
    • People are more active.
    • The parks and recreation services provide a range of accessible experiences for the diverse community.
    • The community facilities are well-used and flexible in meeting community needs.
    • People are central to maintaining the environment.
    • The water quality of the streams and tidal areas is improving.
    • Biodiversity is increasing.
  • Higher priority for eligibility
    • ​A higher priority will be given to:
      • local events and organisations
      • activities that improve
        • Māori outcomes
        • community connectedness and are inclusive
      • events that are smokefree, minimise waste, and offer healthy food options.
  • Lower priority for eligibility
    • They have identified the following services, projects and activities as lower priorities:
      • Catering, unless providing food will help achieve the project outcomes.
      • Events that charge a high admission fee.
      • Fundraising events, unless there is local benefit.
      • Travel, unless it benefits the community.
Funding Information
  • Grant value: $500 – $2000
Outcomes

The grants programme will support the following outcomes:

  • A network of vibrant and beloved urban neighbourhoods.
  • A thriving local economy that supports the quality of life.
  • Communities that know each other and work together on common interests.
  • Community facilities are vibrant and welcoming places at the heart of the communities.
  • It is easy to get around without a car.
  • Natural spaces are valued and restored.
Types of projects funded by the grant
  • Arts
  • Community
  • Environment
  • Events
  • Heritage
  • Sports and recreation
What they will not fund?

They will not fund:

  • groups that have not met previous grant accountability requirements
  • salaries or project management fees.
Eligibility Criteria
  • community organisations with a formal legal structure
  • groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
  • applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
  • receive funding retrospectively.
Ineligible
  • Political parties
  • Internal applicants (i.e. to fund projects, programmes or facilities run by Auckland Council or its employees)
  • Auckland Council CCOs (council-controlled organisations), including facilities owned and operated by Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA)
  • Other local authorities, government agencies or public sector entities.
