The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation is requesting applications for its Humanitarian Aid Initiative to support Vulnerable Displaced, Returnees and Host Communities in Iraq aimed at protecting people, in particular those in vulnerable conditions, including displaced persons, refugees, asylum seekers and host communities.
The program in question is also aligned with the objectives and purposes of Italian Cooperation in so far as it intends to contribute to preventing conflicts, supporting processes of pacification, reconciliation, post-conflict stabilization, consolidation and strengthening of democratic institutions.
Italy’s commitment to peace and stabilization processes in the main crisis areas is therefore confirmed, including the Middle East and the priority of supporting the stabilization process of the areas liberated from ISIS control within the framework of the broader participation of the international community in the reconstruction of Iraq.
The initiative aims, on the one hand, to respond to the needs most urgent needs of highly vulnerable families/households in terms of resources for access to essential goods, on the other hand it aims to create the conditions for access to livelihoods sustainable through professional training and support for local economic activities.
Objectives
- Increased opportunities for young boys and girls from highly vulnerable households to access the labour market: The outcome in question refers to the support that will be provided to highly vulnerable families through targeted interventions, in particular those with women as heads of households at high risk of protection. Functional to the achievement of this result will be activities attributable, although not exclusively, to:
- Emergency support for family income (multi-purpose cash assistance);
- Training on basic skills, such as life skills, linguistic and numerical literacy and computer science, focused on women;
- Training and professional development functional to the acquisition of skills relevant to the job market (market-relevant skills).
- Improve the local market’s capacity to generate employment opportunities: Through the activities aimed at achieving this result, it is intended to support micro and small businesses and commercial activities to encourage their scale-up. The planned activities are therefore attributable, although not exclusively, to:
- Initiation/support/promotion of mechanisms to facilitate market access of work;
- Career guidance programs/career guidance sessions for young people, women and girls;
- Provision of business grants, particularly to young people and women, functional to the scale-up of economic activities or buffer grants functional to the recovery of economic activities already operating.
Funding Information
- The total contribution of AICS for all interventions carried out by non-profit entities within the scope of this call for proposals is equal to 3,450,000.00 euros.
- Funding requested from AICS not exceeding:
- 900,000.00 EUR (nine hundred thousand/00 Euro) for projects submitted by a single entity and collectable, including debt situations arising from provisions for the revocation of contributions for promoted and/or entrusted projects; no profit;
- 1,650,000.00 EUR (one million six hundred and fifty thousand/00 Euro) for joint projects submitted by two or more non-profit entities in ATS.
- Duration: Maximum duration of project activities: 21 (twenty-one) months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-profit entities without an operational headquarters in Italy (local and/or international non-profit entities) may submit project proposals for this call for proposals.
