The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) has launched the “Let’s keep the system”- a competition in support of volunteer and veteran initiatives to strengthen the involvement, sustainability, capacity, relevance and influence of Ukrainian civil society in addressing current domestic, regional and global challenges.
The purpose of the competition is to help volunteer and veteran associations to strengthen and maintain their institutional stability and to promote social cohesion, self-organization, mutual assistance, restoration of a safe environment in communities.
Competition Priorities
- Support of volunteers who help persons and communities in special danger – at the front, frontline, as well as in the liberated territories (survivors of the occupation).
- Support of volunteers who help individuals and communities in relative safety in the rear, receive and support IDPs and other victims.
- Support under the competition can be provided only to organizations operating in the territories / communities under the control of the state authorities of Ukraine (however, the activities may partially relate to assista nce to persons who are in the temporarily occupied territories).
Thematic Priorities
Project proposals submitted to the competition must include the activities of the organization on one or more of the thematic priorities of this competition:
- Protection of defenders – volunteer and veteran initiatives, establishing the necessary logistics to deliver the necessary assistance to the defenders of Ukraine;
- Social cohesion of frontline communities – mutual assistance and self-organization in maintaining public order, basic needs of people, helping the wounded and sick, informing about war-related threats and dangers, evacuations, etc.
- Restoration and development of a safe environment in communities that have survived hostilities and / or occupation – cooperation between public authorities and activists, support and coordination of local initiatives to restore law and order, livelihoods, landscaping and risk reduction, etc.
- Caring for the families of the victims – both military and civilians;
- Assistance to internally displaced persons who have been forced to leave their homes;
- Other volunteer initiatives aimed at helping victims, strengthening solidarity and preserving humanity in Ukraine n society.
Funding Information
- Minimum grant amount: UAH 250,000.
- Maximum grant amount: UAH 750,000.
- The total budget of the competition is UAH 11,250,000.
- The project implementation period is no more than 6 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Charitable organizations and public non-profit associations are invited to participate in the competition, which:
- Can confirm the experience of work until 2022 in the field of volunteer assistance to support the military, ATO / OOS veterans, victims of Russian aggression by civilians – residents of frontline areas, internally displaced persons, families of the dead, etc.
- Can confirm the experience of receiving and using charitable contributions through the accounts of the organizatio n, with public financial statements.
