If your project has the potential to positively impact water quality or ecosystem health. Then apply for the Water Fund, an annual grant program that helps landowners access funding, knowledge, and technical support for environmental projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes and Durham Region.
Since 2008, $485,000+ has been awarded to landowner projects in the Kawartha Lakes and Township of Scugog through the Water Fund.
Funding Areas
Examples of eligible landowner projects include:
- Farm stewardship projects
- Healthy gardening projects
- Shoreline naturalization and erosion protection
- Tree planting
- Well and septic system stewardship
Funding Information
- The Water Fund is a cost-sharing program that supports environmental projects.
- Projects may be approved for up to 50% of the total project cost, to a maximum of $4,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be landowners within:
- the Kawartha watershed and City of Kawartha Lakes,
- the Kawartha watershed and Durham Region,
- OR an area in City of Kawartha Lakes not covered by another Conservation Authority
- OR community organizations within:
- the Kawartha Watershed and City of Kawartha Lakes,
- OR an area in City of Kawartha Lakes not covered by another Conservation Authority
- Priority will be given to:
- Projects near water
- Projects that have the potential to improve water quality or terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems
- First-time applicants
