Applications are now open for the Lloyd’s of London Foundation’s 2023 charity partnerships – this is an opportunity for charities to apply for a grant to support projects in the areas of employability, social mobility, mental health, climate and disaster avoidance and relief.
Themes
- Employability: Supporting people to improve their employability, training and educational outcomes
- Social mobility: Helping people to better realise their potential, aspire and advance, regardless of their background
- Mental health: Empowering people to improve their wellbeing and personal resilience
- Disaster avoidance & recovery: Enabling communities to develop better disaster avoidance strategies to mitigate future risks, prepare for disasters and to recover from disasters quickly when they happen
- Climate: Equipping communities with the tools to better understand future risks to our environment, build climate resilience and ensuring they give communities the tools to ensure the transition to net zero by 2050 a low carbon economy
Funding Information
- Grant between £25,000 and £50,000.
- The grant will give the charity the opportunity to partner with the Lloyd’s of London Foundation and engage with the Lloyd’s community both through their employees in the corporation and the wider Lloyd’s insurance market. They are looking to partner with organisations that support the people and communities in which they work and support employee engagement activities such as fundraising and volunteering.
Eligibility Criteria
- Salaries to deliver the project
- Materials and equipment for the project
- Training of charity employees to deliver the project
- Activities for the project
- International organisations with presence in the UK
- Projects that support UK and international beneficiaries
- Previous grantees of the Society of Lloyd’s or the Lloyd’s charities
- Work to support “at risk” groups
Ineligible
- Charities with significant levels of reserves and/or significant income above £100 million
- Community interest companies (CIC)
- Contributions directly towards individuals, individual beneficiaries or sponsorship of individuals
- Charities that only support a specific sector of society based on ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation or political beliefs
- Grant giving organisations
- General ongoing core services and unrestricted funding
- Facilities or services that UK government departments provide
- Sponsorship of events, or contributions towards fundraising events
- Office items or IT equipment for the charity’s own use
- Memorials
- Academic research
- Global and local emergency response appeals (this is channelled separately through the Corporation of Lloyd’s)
- Ad-hoc donations and any requests for sponsorship from global or local individuals and charities (this is channelled through the Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards)
- Organisations with no UK presence
Criteria
Applications with some or all the following specifications will be favoured:
- Charities with annual income under £50 million (including investment portfolios and reserves).
- Support people and communities directly
- Support groups that are at risk and are the hardest to reach
- Focus on one or more of the following themes: employability, social mobility, mental health, climate or disaster avoidance/relief
- Demonstrate good governance and due diligence
- Is a collaborative charitable organisation with others in the sector
- Proposals that are evidenced by research
- Demonstrative of long-term sustainability once the partnership has ended
- Demonstrate a key need and address the issues outlined in the proposal
- Charities who offer employee engagement opportunities to the Lloyd’s market including business collaboration, fundraising, volunteering, pro-bono support and awareness raising
