Deadline: 2-Apr-25
Art Fund and London Gallery Weekend are partnering to offer grants to support travel and accommodation costs for curators working at regional museums across the UK to visit London Gallery Weekend, 6 – 8 June 2025.
London Gallery Weekend (LGW) unites the galleries of the capital, as they present exhibitions by major international names and emerging artists, alongside a public programme of events that includes gallery receptions, exhibition tours, performances, and artist talks.
The partnership aims to create new and stronger connections between UK museums, London galleries, and the artists they support, and is part of Art Fund’s ongoing support for curators’ professional development. As well as providing funding for travel and accommodation, London Gallery Weekend will help facilitate networking opportunities so the funding recipients can make the most of the weekend.
What they can fund?
- What’s covered by the bursary: Accommodation (arranged by London Gallery Weekend at a Central London hotel) and travel to and from London (including public transport while in London).
- What’s not included: Per diems, meals and beverages, transportation to/from train stations or airports.
Who can apply?
- The fund is designed for curators from organisations that would otherwise be unable to cover travel and accommodation costs and it’s aimed at individuals working in acquisitions, programming exhibitions and commissioning artists.
- The programme is open to curators from public museums and galleries, visual arts festivals, historic houses, libraries and archives based anywhere in the UK, outside of London, that are:
- Open for at least half the week for at least six months of the year
- Fully or provisionally Accredited through the Arts Council Accreditation scheme or other national equivalents
- Most organisations they support will hold collections, including contemporary art, fine and applied art and design, archaeology and/or social history. They will also be committed to delivering activity that increases public access to these collections, which has public benefit and aligns with Art Fund’s charitable objectives.
- We do not offer funding under this programme in the following instances:
- Organisations that exist to make a profit, including Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, Unlimited Companies, or Sole Traders
- General Partnerships, Limited Partnerships, or Limited Liability Partnerships
