The Research Nova Scotia is pleased to announce the New Investigator in Addictions and Mental Health Grant Program to support early-career researchers who are engaged in mental health and addiction research that is focused on equity-deserving groups in Nova Scotia.
For the purposes of this grant, equity-deserving groups are defined as, but not limited to:
- Mi’kmaq/Indigenous Persons or Communities, African Nova Scotians/Persons of African descent, Racialized Persons, Newcomers, Persons with Disabilities, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Acadian/Francophone individuals, and residents of rural areas.
Program Information
- Provides financial support to early-career researchers who are engaged in mental health and addiction research focused on equity-deserving groups.
- Supports the establishment of independent programs of research and improves competitiveness for awards from national and other external funders.
- Expands the potential for early-career researchers to make significant contributions in the field.
Funding Information
- This one-time grant will provide up to $100,000 over two years for researchers who are within the first five years of their first academic appointment.
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply for a New Investigator in Addictions and Mental Health Grant, the applicant must be an Early Career Health Researcher within the first five years of a first-time academic/research appointment at a university/college, or an appointment with research responsibilities at an affiliated hospital and be engaged in mental health and addictions research that is focused on equity-deserving groups in Nova Scotia.
