Submissions are now open for “In a Good Place” program that gives small remote, rural and regional communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds for a broad range of community-driven projects, services, activities or initiatives, which clearly and directly focus on strengthening mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable community members who are at risk of, or are experiencing, mental health issues.
Objectives
- Reducing stigma surrounding mental health and seeking help;
- Encouraging vulnerable community members to seek help if they are struggling with their mental health and well-being.
- Supporting farmers and farming communities
- Reducing social isolation; or
- Increasing social participation, inclusion and connection.
Program Streams
- There are now two streams within the program:
- Community wellbeing for projects focussing on mental health and wellbeing within remote, rural and regional communities; and
- Farmers and farming communities for projects specifically supporting mental health and wellbeing of farmers and the communities they live in.
Funding Information
- This year, the In a Good Place program will offer grants of up to $20,000, from a funding pool of at least $290,000.
Eligible Projects
- FRRR funds projects aligned with the following types of charitable purpose and outcomes that meet the program objectives, including:
- Mental health approaches that are community-focused, non-clinical, and easy to access at the grassroots level, in appropriate settings;
- Creating or offering mental health/social and emotional well-being activities and resources, that are culturally appropriate and/or cater for different language groups;
- Projects that improve outcomes for vulnerable groups at risk of, or who may be experiencing, mental, social/emotional health and well-being issues by helping to reduce their social isolation, increase participation in community life, and supporting them to seek appropriate levels of help. For example, projects specifically targeting farmers and farming communities children and young people; adults/older adults, Indigenous and multicultural communities
- Delivery of community-based therapeutic programs/activities such as arts, theatre, gardening, communal meals or informal mentoring and peer support groups, which specifically seek to engage vulnerable and at-risk members of the community;
- Building capacity and skills within rural and farming communities to support mental health and well-being through projects that reduce stigma, increase local knowledge and strengthen community understanding of mental health;
- Projects that work closely with or are supported by, other local, state, or industry services to improve mental health at the community level, such as those in the farming industry;
- Projects that build local partnerships to strengthen support for mental health and well-being in the community, purchase essential equipment or resources to enable local delivery of mental health social/emotional health and well-being focused programs, services, or activities (quotes must be provided for items over $1,000);
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant organisations must be a not-for-profit organisation with an ABN or Incorporation Certificate;
- Project must be for charitable purposes and offer clear public benefit;
- Not-for-profit organisations with or without DGR-1 endorsement are eligible;
- Organisations can only submit one application per grant round;
- Projects must benefit communities in remote, rural or regional Australia.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Please note, you will be considered ineligible if the:
- Application is submitted by individuals, sole traders, private or commercial businesses (as per the submitted ABN);
- Application is submitted by an organisation that is not a legal entity (i.e. a registered not-for-profit), without the written consent of the governing/partnering body who holds the ABN/Incorporation Certificate;
- Application is submitted without required financial documentation;
- Final report/s from any FRRR grants awarded in the previous seven years have not been acquitted (delivery organisations should check with legal organisation to see if there are any outstanding final reports);
- Application is for a project or activity that has already occurred/is occurring prior to the announcement of funding;
