The Paul Ramsay Foundation is opening new opportunities for First Nations communities in Tasmania, the Northern Territory, the Torres Strait, regional and remote Queensland, and regional and remote South Australia as part of its First Nations Targeted Grant.
Focus Areas
- Grants will be awarded to ACCOs and First Nations-led organisations to:
- Create immediate benefit for community and their organisations
- Increase their capacity and improve funding stability (especially smaller organisations)
- Contribute to First Nations self-determination by:
- Enabling communities to fund what they need
- Contributing to activities which strengthen governance and advocacy
- Supporting and promoting activities which value culture and centre First Nations worldviews
- Remove barriers to achieve broader outcomes
- Be more responsive to cultural priorities.
Funding Information
- Organisations can apply for funding for one to three years, and between $50,000 and $500,000. They will consider funding in the following three categories:
- $250,000 to $500,000
- $100,000 to $250,000
- $50,000 to $100,000
How grant funds can be used?
- Salaries, in line with the pay what it takes (PWIT) principles
- Operational costs, including overheads, rent
- Governance and capability building (for the organisation and/or community)
- Leadership training (for the organisation and/or community)
- Supporting networks and collaboration
- Travel – bringing together leadership, meetings, training
- Data collection, analysis, other measurement work
- Digital infrastructure and other reasonable assets (i.e. not more than 5% of the total funding request).
Who can apply?
- To be eligible for this grant round you must:
- Be a First Nations-led organisation
- Be based in and/or working in Tasmania, Torres Strait Islands, Northern Territory, Regional and Remote Queensland, Regional and Remote South Australia.
- Be ACNC or ORIC registered not-for-profit
- Be seeking funding for an existing community initiative that builds capacity and capability in leadership, governance, advocacy and/or collaboration
- Request funding that is less than 20% of your organisation’s (FY24) annual income
- Not have received any funding from the Paul Ramsay Foundation
