The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting applications for Promotion of youth in communities in Zhemgang and scale up of UPSHIFT programme through selected schools.
UNICEF is supporting the Ministry of Education and Skills Development in scaling the UPSHIFT program, engaging 6,000 adolescents and youth in climate action across 52 new schools and 75 existing schools.

Expected Results
- Developed and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between YDF and Zhemgang Dzongkhag to formalize the collaboration and promote youth engagement in Nangkor Gewog as part of a broader effort to involve youth in the community development process.
- 40 youth, including community leaders and representatives from key sectors within the Dzongkhag trained on the UPSHIFT methodology, developed an action plan aimed at supporting and empowering youth in Nangkor Gewog.
- 3 youth-led green initiatives developed and supported by the Dzongkhag for scaling up, with mentorship provided to ensure sustainable growth and implementation of these initiatives.
- 50% of the cost for scaling up 3 youth-led initiatives supported by the local government, ensuring strong financial support mechanism.
- 29 youth led UPSHIFT projects successfully implemented and documented.
- 1500 youth equipped with 21st century skills and leadership skills through UPSHIFT.
