The Pyrenees Shire Council is accepting applications for its Biannual Grant to increase the liveability of the Shire and the health and wellbeing of the residents.
Projects that encourage inclusion are encouraged, particularly those addressing disadvantage.
Supports
- The program supports delivery of projects; however, applications for the development of plans and strategies are encouraged, including:
- concept designs/ project feasibility studies
- event management / group business plans
Projects
- Potential projects could be:
- Healthy eating – nutrition and cooking programs and projects.
- Social inclusion – new social groups e.g., book clubs, arts groups, or support networks.
- Active living – introductory sport programs such as ‘come and try’ sessions.
- Supporting mental health – Information or forums that support well-being issues.
- Community safety – bicycle and road safety programs.
- Culture and heritage – workshops, performances, and exhibitions.
- Arts and craft – public art projects such as exhibitions, writing workshops, drawing classes, etc.
- Climate change resilience – community tree planting/greening projects.
Minor Capital Works and Equipment
- This category supports:
- The implementation of minor capital works projects at local community facilities; or
- New equipment to increase participation or the support and encouragement of volunteering.
- Event Sponsorship: This category provides for the development and support of new and existing community and tourism
- events, which provide vibrant and diverse experiences for both residents and visitors to Pyrenees Shire.
Funding Information
- Programs, projects and activities – up to $2,000 per grant
- Equipment – up to $2,000
- Minor capital works – up to $7,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be either a:
- Community Group or not-for-profit organisation located in the Pyrenees Shire.
- Not-for-profit organisation located elsewhere but provide services or programs to Pyrenees Shire residents.
- A committee appointed by Council or a Council Community Assets Committee.
- Government funded agencies operating primarily through volunteer effort may apply (i.e., SES and CFA units) but projects need to demonstrate broad community benefit.
- Local schools can apply if the project:
- Is not curriculum-based,
- Can strongly demonstrate broad community benefit, and
- Is partnered with a community organisation.
