The U.S. Embassy in Timor-Leste is pleased to announce funding available through its Public Diplomacy Section Annual Program Statement.
Goals and Objectives
- Strengthen ties between the United States and Timor-Leste through programming that:
- Promotes an increased understanding of U.S. perspectives
- Enhances bilateral cooperation and strengthens people-to-people ties
- Strengthens economic and technological partnerships with the United States and/or decreases Timor-Leste’s vulnerabilities to economic coercion and exploitation
Priority Program Areas
- Advancing the bilateral relationship between the United States and Timor-Leste, including increased U.S.-Timorese security, economic, and educational cooperation.
- Expanding access to English language learning and teaching, strengthening English language proficiency and exchange opportunities to improve global connectivity, as well as promoting U.S. higher education and exchange opportunities.
- Strengthening Timorese media reporting capacity and promoting development of free and independent media and media literacy.
- Strengthening economic partnership and prosperity, including through programs that promote entrepreneurship, training and skills development to address unemployment.
Funding Information
- Award Amounts: Awards range from a minimum of $2,500 to a Maximum of $25,000
Duration
- Program Performance Period: Proposed projects should be completed in one year or sooner.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- U.S. and foreign nonprofit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
- U.S. and foreign universities and/or educational institutions
- Individuals
- Public international organizations and governmental institutions
- To be eligible to receive an award, all organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
- Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal per organization.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following types of programs are not eligible for funding:
- Programs relating to partisan political activity
- For-profit activities
- Charitable or development activities
- Construction programs
- Programs that support specific religious activities
- Fund-raising campaigns
