The Govanhill Baths Community Trust is requesting applications to support artists, creative and cultural practitioners, activists, organisers, grassroots groups and small third-sector organisations in taking part in its International Festival & Carnival by providing financial assistance for event planning and delivery.
Their goal is to highlight the vibrant contributions of Govanhill’s diverse communities and foster connections between audiences, communities, and networks.
Focus Areas
- This funding can cover a wide range of activities, including but not limited to:
- Music and dance performances
- Art exhibitions
- Film screenings
- Theatre performances
- Interactive installations
- Culinary demonstrations
- Workshops, talks, and seminars
- Community gatherings and picnics
Funding Information
- Applicants can request up to £1,000, though most awards will be between £250 and £500.
Eligibility Criteria
- They welcome applications from individuals, constituted community groups, and small third-sector organisations with an annual turnover of £150,000 or less.
- Priority will be given to:
- Groups based in greater Govanhill (e.g. Govanhill, Gorbals, Toryglen, Shawlands, Pollokshields, Crosshill, Langside, Queens Park, Cathcart)
- Groups based in greater Govanhill
- Initiatives that directly connect to culture, heritage, and the environmental and social wellbeing of Govanhill
- They also encourage collaborations with larger organisations, provided the project is co-developed with a local community group.
- Only one application per individual, group, or organisation will be considered.
Selection Criteria
- Your application should clearly show how your event supports at least one of the following values. Applications that reflect two or more will be given extra consideration:
- Freedom of Expression & Experimentation: Encouraging creativity and new ideas, providing space for people to share their artistry, experiences, and perspectives.
- Raising Awareness: Highlighting important social and environmental issues in a thoughtful and impactful way.
- Constructive Conversations: Bringing people together to exchange ideas, listen, and learn from one another.
- Community Participation: Involving local people at every stage – from planning to delivering the event.
- Lasting Impact: Creating opportunities for people to connect, develop skills, or build something meaningful that continues beyond the festival.
- High-Quality Event Delivery: They are particularly interested in proposals that demonstrate exceptional ambition and high quality in both planning and delivery.
