The United Nations Women is inviting the proponents to submit proposals suggesting creative and efficient solutions to combat gender stereotypes, to empower youth and women for increased community inclusion and social cohesion.
The overall goal of the project is to increase social and economic opportunities for women in Moldova and enable their participation in decision-making processes. This assignment is structured around the Outcome one of the project in addressing the engagement of women in governance processes and meaningful participation in sustained peace building and social cohesion in Moldova.
One of the project’s focus areas is to support dialogue and cross-river confidence building through joint initiatives among women leadership platforms from the left and the right bank of the Nistru River.
The project has a strong focus on advancing women’s leadership and role in community level peacebuilding actions by – strengthening grassroot women’s organizations and fostering dialogue and joint projects/initiatives between women’s organizations on both banks. Moreover, the institutional and technical strengthening of women’s organizations (formal and informal) on the left bank will enable them to progressively engage in dialogue initiatives with their right bank peers, while also advancing positive social norms around gender equality and women’s rights on both banks through women’s leadership initiatives. The program will therefore consolidate the dialogue platforms and strengthen community inclusion and social cohesion by offering:
- Skills development
- Institutional and Legal Support
- Access to economic empowerment programs
- Dialogue building and Networking
- Cross-river confidence building pilot project
- Outreach and Communication
Funding Information
- The proposed intervention size and budget request is for up to USD 65,000.00.
- Duration: The Partnership Agreement is expected to start from June 2025 and be implemented by end of June 2026 with possibility of extension, contingent to achievement of the expected results under this assignment.
Expected Outcomes
- The proposals should encompass capacity development, awareness raising, communication, and/or other creative solutions and/or knowledge management on best practices in the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment in order to achieve the following results, but not limited to:
- Provide institutional support and capacity building to the Women’s Dialogue Platforms from the Transnistrian region:
- Design and deliver training and coaching on project management, fundraising, reporting and communication.
- Offer legal support to aid the formal registration of the Platforms, as applicable.
- Indicators: The proponents will be encouraged to integrate some of the indicators from programme’s log frame into the monitoring and evaluation plans under suggested projects, such as:
- Number of women (including youth and under-represented e.g., Roma, women with disabilities) enabled to actively engage in gender-responsive local development.
- Share of participants that report a measurable increase in organizational management, demonstrated through their knowledge and/or ability to successfully implement a project, participate in local/business development processes, or lead public presentations, as evidenced by pre- and post-program self-assessments and performance evaluations.
- Dialogue building and Networking:
- Organize and support participation of the Women’s Dialogue Platforms to joint meetings with the members of the Women’s Advisory Board for Sustainable Peacebuilding;
- Outreach and/or networking activities around women’s leadership for peaceful development and social cohesion, bringing together women leaders from both banks of the Nistru River (including women entrepreneurs, CSO activists, Ukrainian women refugees, social assistants, paralegals, education workers, etc.).
- Indicators: The proponents will be encouraged to integrate some of the indicators from programme’s logframe into the monitoring and evaluation plans under suggested projects, such as:
- Number of women from both banks engaged in networking opportunities, in resource-sharing activities, collaborative initiatives and collective problem-solving efforts to promote social cohesion and inclusive communities.
- Contribute to cross-river confidence building:
- Support the design and implementation of cross-river projects, including on human rights and gender equality, by the Women’s Discussion Platforms jointly with women’s rights organizations on the right bank, aimed to strengthen confidence, trust, social cohesion and contribute to sustained peace.
- Indicators: The proponents will be encouraged to integrate some of the indicators from programme’s logframe into the monitoring and evaluation plans under suggested projects, such as:
- Number of initiatives implemented, including on human rights and gender equality, aimed to strengthen confidence, trust, social cohesion and contribute to sustained peace.
- Number of people, incl. refugees (disaggregated by sex, age, rural/urban) benefiting from gender responsive Humanitarian-Development-Peace interventions and improved social cohesion in Moldova, including in TN region.
- Outreach and Communication:
- Brief communication strategy
- Design and establish the branding of the program, including visual identity, logos, and visibility materials to ensure a unified, recognizable presence
- Actively promote the Women’s Dialogue Platforms on social media using high qualitative pictures.
- Indicators: The proponents will be encouraged to integrate some of the indicators from programme’s logframe into the monitoring and evaluation plans under suggested projects, such as:
- One branding package, including visual identity, logo, tagline, and communication and visibility materials and products, within the first 3 months of the program
- Number of promotional events (e.g., launch events, webinars, roundtables) within 12 months, engaging relevant stakeholders from both banks of the Nistru River.
- Provide institutional support and capacity building to the Women’s Dialogue Platforms from the Transnistrian region:
Eligibility Criteria
- This call for proposal is addressed to civil society organizations (CSOs) from both banks of the Nistru River to deliver a set of comprehensive interventions contributing to cross-river confidence building and to more inclusive and resilient localities, through joint community-driven initiatives, capacity development and networking.
- Women’s organizations or entities are highly encouraged to apply.
