The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is currently inviting applications for its Engaging Businesses for Health program with an aim to build the evidence base for how private-sector investment can help build a Culture of Health.
Funded studies are expected to include rigorous empirical research that will inform the business case for promoting greater well-being and health equity for all.
Focus Areas
Major topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Business Investment in Healthy Community Environments:
- This topic addresses the effects of businesses’ investment in community health and healthy community environments, and its subsequent impact on economic success for businesses and community members, societal health and well-being, and consumer demand for new products and services.
- Community Health and Market Effects on Businesses:
- This topic addresses the interplay between the health of the community, market factors, and a business’ viability and priorities.
Funding Information
- Recommended project funding is up to $250,000 to accommodate studies of up to 24 months.
- Projects that exceed the recommended budget range must provide strong justification for the proposed budget.
- Up to $2 million will be available under this call for proposals.
- Up to eight studies will be funded.
- Expect to fund a diverse range of studies with varying budgets and timelines.
Eligibility Criteria
- Researchers, as well as practitioners in the public and private sector working with researchers, are eligible to submit proposals through their organizations.
- Projects may be generated from disciplines including:
- Business management and administration,
- Finance,
- Marketing,
- Economics,
- Labor,
- Sociology,
- Program evaluation,
- Political science,
- Public policy,
- Public health and health care,
- Public administration,
- Law,
- Other related fields.
- The Foundation may give preference to applicants that are either public entities or nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and are not private foundations or Type III supporting organizations.
- The Foundation may require additional documentation.
- Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories.
