The Abbotsford Community Foundation (ACF) is seeking applications for Smart & Caring Community Grants.
The Abbotsford Community Foundation’s Smart & Caring Community Fund provides grants to charitable organizations for projects, programs, and initiatives addressing local social issues specifically related to children and families at risk within their community, including but not limited to their needs for housing, food security, poverty reduction, education, mental health, and wellness.
Their goal is to fund projects that support equity, diversity and inclusion, build resilience, and create opportunities for engagement with some of community’s most vulnerable citizens.
Funding Information
- Grant requests must not exceed $15,000.
Use of Funds
- The grant request must be for a specific new project, program, or initiative and/or an enhancement of an
- existing project, program or initiative occurring within a defined period, typically commencing within 12
- months following the application deadline; however, exceptions may be permitted.
- Abbotsford Community Foundation will fund up to 60% of the total resources required for a project. Inkind contributions and/or cash contributions can be used to fund the remaining 40% balance.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, the applying organization must meet the following criteria:
- Be a registered charitable organization or other qualified donee as identified by the Income Tax Act, Sec 149.1
- Make services available without discrimination as prohibited by the Canadian Human Rights Act
- The program, project or initiative outlined in the application must primarily benefit the citizens of Abbotsford and be delivered within the geographic boundaries of Abbotsford.
- Applications will be considered for projects which address one or more of the following:
- Demonstrate innovative approaches that include specific goalsto address local social issues specifically related to children and families at risk within their community, including but not limited to their needs for housing, food security, poverty reduction, education, mental health & wellness
- Promote cooperation and collaboration between organizations
- Promote volunteer participation to build organizational capacity for programs that address local social issues related to children and families at risk
- Stimulate the participation of other funding partners.
Ineligible
- Grants are not available for:
- Paying down mortgages or reducing deficits
- Political and/or exclusively religious activities
- Retroactive funds for completed or partially completed projects
- An organization’s on-going or core operating expenses
- Office equipment or furniture.
