The U.S. Embassy in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS has announced a call for project proposals for the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) for 2019.
Proposals will be considered for projects that seek to preserve cultural heritage in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadine.
Funding Areas
Through the AFCP program, the U.S. Department of State supports projects that preserve cultural heritage in the following three areas:
- Cultural sites: such as, but not limited to, historic buildings and archaeological sites.
- Cultural objects and collections: from a museum, site, or similar institution, including but not limited to, archaeological and ethnographic objects, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and general museum conservation needs.
- Forms of traditional cultural expression: such as traditional music, indigenous languages, and crafts.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Must be non-commercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations.
- Must be able to demonstrate the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.
