The Ministry of the Environment is the Facilitator of the program focused on environmental protection under the second Swiss contribution entitled “Sustainable Tourism and Strengthening Biodiversity”.
The “Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity Enhancement” program is financed by the Swiss-Czech Cooperation Program within the framework of the Second Swiss Contribution for the Implementation of Projects in the Field of Environmental Protection and Climate.
Objectives
- The aim of the “Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity Enhancement” program (hereinafter referred to as the Program) is to address two main causes of biodiversity decline: human interference with ecosystems (e.g. landscape fragmentation) and overexploitation of ecosystems (e.g. excessive tourism) with the aim of reducing pressure on ecosystem function.
Funding Information
- For the program “Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity Enhancement”, CHF 38.4 million was allocated with national co-financing of CHF 6.78 million (a total of CHF 45.18 million, i.e. approx. CZK 1,084 million) with project implementation by December 31, 2028.
- Allocation breakdown:
- Large projects worth over CZK 70 million in two main pillars
- Strengthening biodiversity – 300 million CZK
- Sustainable tourism – 660 million CZK
- Projects in the so-called Small Grant Scheme (hereinafter referred to as MGS) worth CZK 500 thousand to CZK 5 million
- MGS submitted for both pillars together – 106 million CZK
- Large projects worth over CZK 70 million in two main pillars
Eligibility Criteria
- An authorized applicant is any legal entity with its registered office in the Czech Republic, with legal personality and an organization identification number.
- The entire Czech Republic is eligible for project implementation, with the exception of the capital city of Prague.
