The U.S Department of Education is seeking applications for its State Personnel Development Grants (SPDG) Program. The purpose of this program, authorized by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), is to assist State educational agencies (SEAs) in reforming and improving their systems for personnel preparation and professional development in early intervention, educational, and transition services in order to improve results for children with disabilities.
Priorities
- Effective and Efficient Delivery of Professional Development: The Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services establishes a priority to assist SEAs in reforming and improving their systems for personnel preparation and professional development of individuals providing early intervention, educational, and transition services in order to improve results for children with disabilities.
- State Personnel Development Grants: State Personnel Development Plan that identifies and addresses the State and local needs for the personnel preparation and professional development of personnel, as well as individuals who provide direct supplementary aids and services to children with disabilities.
Funding Information
The Administration has requested $41,630,000 for the SPDG program for FY 2017, of which they intend to use an estimated $24,350,000 for this competition.
Eligibility Criteria
An SEA of one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or an outlying area (United States Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands).
