The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for funding under the Tribal Corrections Capacity Building Training and Technical Assistance Program.
Objectives
The objectives for achieving program goals include:
- Increasing the knowledge of tribal justice practitioners through in-person training, webbased learning, and distance-learning via webinars and teleconferences; and developing or revising training curricula.
- Increasing a tribal justice agency’s ability to solve problems and/or modify policies or practices.
- Increasing information provided to BJA and the criminal and tribal justice communities.
Program Categories
- Category 1: Building Tribal Capacity to Plan, Develop, and/or Enhance Reentry Efforts.
- Category 2: Building Capacity to Plan, Develop, or Enhance Tribal Community Corrections Capacity.
Award Information
BJA expects to make awards in each category for the following amounts and periods of performance:
- Category 1, one award of up to $400,000, for a 18-month period of performance
- Category 2, one award of up to $600,000, for a 18-month period of performance
Eligibility Criteria
- For profit organizations other than small businesses
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Independent school districts
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Small businesses
- Private institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
