The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is seeking applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2019 Preventing Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers and Ensuring Officer Resilience and Survivability (VALOR) Initiative.
Objectives
- Increase the knowledge and skills of state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies in priority topics of officer safety and wellness.
- Identify and address current and emerging safety and wellness threats and concerns to law enforcement.
- Raise awareness of BJA’s officer safety and wellness programs, trainings, and resources.
Categories
For the FY 2019 VALOR Initiative solicitation, BJA intends to award one program provider under each of the following two categories:
- VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program (VALOR Program): BJA seeks a national officer safety and wellness TTA provider to continue and enhance BJA’s existing VALOR Program.
- Field-Driven Officer Safety and Wellness Program: BJA seeks a national program provider proposing innovative field-driven projects that address officer safety and wellness.
Award Information
- BJA expects to make up to two awards (one in each category) of up to $6,500,000 for Category 1 and up to $700,000 for Category 2, for an estimated total award amount of up to $7,200,000.
- BJA expects to make awards for a 12- or 18-month (Category 1) and 24-month (Category 2) period of performance, to begin on October 1, 2019.
