Deadline: 13-Jan-23
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – ERA is accepting applications for Understanding Adult Immunization Quality Improvement Approaches Among Adult HCP and Health Departments Program
Objectives/Outcomes
- This NOFO has two primary research objectives:
- Identify, implement, and compare interventions and process improvements to increase quality of immunization delivery and workflow in healthcare settings serving adult patients.
- Develop and evaluate approaches for public health immunization programs to support, manage, and monitor adult immunization QI activities across a range of adult healthcare settings.
- The intended outcomes of the research from this notice of funding opportunity are:
- Increased understanding of the interaction and management structures necessary for supporting adult immunization Q1 initiatives among adult providers across the 64 city, state, and territorial immunization programs.
- Increased number of adult-specific QI intervention and technical assistance strategies that range by vaccine type, provider type, geographic region, and urbanicity.
- Increased support for QI site coordinators among adult providers, including technical assistance materials.
- Increased understanding of metrics suitable for measuring impact of adult QI on adult vaccination coverage rates.
- Increased routine vaccination rates among adult patients served by providers participating in the QI intervention. Target Population Applicants should partner with one or more public health immunization programs to accomplish research study objectives.
Target Population
- The target audience for this project should be providers from city, state, or territorial jurisdictions that:
- May or may not be enrolled in a QI program;
- Are among the four preferred clinical setting types (Family Medical Practice, OB/GYN Medical Practice, FQHCs, RHCs);
- Serve a priority population (racial and ethnic minority populations, pregnant persons, rural communities, adults with chronic medical conditions); and
- use (or plan to use) Section 317 vaccine allocations during the study period.
- All providers should serve adult populations and have systems in place to administer ACIP-recommended routine adult vaccines.
Funding Information
- Estimated Total Program Funding: $1,500,000
- Award Ceiling: $500,000
- Award Floor: $400,000.
Methods
- Collecting, aggregating, and analyzing clinic-level data on immunization coverage and change in coverage over time.
- Identifying core adult immunization QI strategies (e.g., site visit strategies, workflow, adult population specific priorities, interventions, vaccine delivery, training, etc.).
- Providing assessment and feedback to public health immunization programs supporting facilities with implementation of pilot interventions.
- Monitoring adult immunization QI pilot interventions, providing feedback and technical assistance, and steps for evaluating program management structures and quality of support provided.
- Supporting cost analysis plan inclusive of relevant costs for implementing the improved protocols (e.g., staff salaries, operational costs, toll and/or resource development, etc.).
