The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking proposals for its program entitled “Preventing Violent Extremism through Promoting Tolerance and Respect for Diversity (PROTECT)”.
Objectives
The objective of this Call for Proposals is to support the ongoing PVE work of UNDP, through a series of online and offline initiatives. The aim of these initiatives is both to disseminate/promote actions for positive narratives on peace, tolerance and respect for diversity at community level to tackle Violent Extremism and to strengthen their capacities of communities in the dissemination of such among youth. In this regard, the selected NGOs/ CSOs will focus its efforts on undertaking several activities:
- Create online and offline content of alternatives narratives on violent extremism. This shall include 20 Facebook lives to enhance the understanding of violent extremism, 20 videos advocating respect for diversity, with the support of YouTube Indonesia and 10 peer-groups for offline campaign.
- Conduct the workshops on “How to Identify and Response Hate Speech” and “How to Create Peaceful Message on Social Media” for 100 youth, with support from Social Media Platform, such as Google, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
- Arrange and conduct youth camp on PROTECting diversity in through the form of capacity building activity for youth from University. The main objective of the Youth camp is to increase the sense of tolerance and respect for diversity among the youth and their willingness to be the creator of changes on promoting tolerance and pluralism. The Youth camp will deliver activities for youth movement across Indonesia with the involvement of at least 10 universities, exposed to the phenomenon of radicalism. The activity shall consist of gendered-based participation to promote women’s involvement to PVE. This is to empower youth to disseminate messages of peace, tolerance and respect of diversity across local communities.
- Deliver a series of activities as tools to promote tolerance and respect for diversity, at the Festiversity (Festival of Diversity) that expected to be conducted in August 2019 on the Independence Day momentum and October 2019 on the Oath of Youth (Sumpah Pemuda) momentum. Festiversity is a part of national celebration for youth. The main objective is to increase the sense of nationalism, pluralism and tolerance through several activities, such as the competition and performance. This shall include the gendered-based participation of students, from 50 Universities and the involvement of students from vulnerable areas.
Funding Information
Proposal amounts should be a maximum of USD. 145,000 for all activities as stated in the ToR.
Eligibility Criteria
It is expected that the NGO/CSO will meet the following qualifications:
- Experience in the area of prevention of violent extremism (PVE) and youth movement
- Experience in the use of social media and communication tools for the promotion of online content, web platforms, websites and videos
- Experience in the area of promotion of peace, tolerance and respect for diversity through communication tools
- Experience in conducting workshops, training sessions, seminars for stakeholders and youth at community level
- Experience in working with governments in Indonesia and the broader ASEAN region
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Indonesian
