UNDP is announcing a call for proposals for the Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) operating in the regions of Georgia.
In particular, the grant aims at increasing PwDs knowledge on their rights and available redress mechanisms and supporting them in social inclusion, while at the same time increasing society’s awareness towards the PwDs.
Objective
The primary objective of the call is to promote culture of non-discrimination of persons with disabilities in Georgia by strengthening their protection and raising awareness for combating stigma and discrimination as well as supporting their social inclusion.
Scope
To address challenges explained above and achieve the objective of this call, proposals submitted by the applicants shall focus on combination of the following priority areas for grant implementation:
- Priority area 1. Knowledge building on human rights issues for the PwDs and their representative organizations
- The applicants need to propose interventions focusing, inter alia, on the provision of information to persons with disabilities about the CRPD, its Optional Protocol and national legislation, including the Law on the Rights of PwDs, anti-discrimination law and the policy documents related to the rights of PwDs, as well as available redress mechanisms and existing institutional formal participation mechanisms in order to improve their knowledge about their rights and the ways of seeking justice and to ensure meaningful participation of PwDs.
- Priority area 2. Awareness campaigns for addressing the stigma and discrimination of persons with disabilities
- The applicants are invited to ensure awareness-raising activities directed at reducing the stigma and discrimination of PwDs, with a special focus on the most vulnerable groups of PwDs, including persons with intellectual and mental disabilities. It is up to the applicants to decide which activities to focus on.
- Priority area 3. Promote the social inclusion of persons with disabilities living in the regions of Georgia
- The applicants are invited to deliver measures/activities to promote the social inclusion of PwDs living in one or more regions of Georgia, with special focus on supporting the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities, including their economic empowerment. It is up to the applicants to decide which activities to focus on.
Funding Information
- Applicants may submit the proposals for up to USD 10,000 (excluding cost-sharing, if any). The justified and realistic budget shall be provided.
Eligible Expenses
Eligible costs include honorarium/salary, training venue costs, stationery, basic office equipment, printing, creation of educational resources, IT solutions, visibility items, and other costs directly related to this grant activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- OPDs operating in the regions of Georgia outside Tbilisi, are invited to apply for this Call for Proposals, except of religious and political organizations. Entities should be registered in accordance with the requirements of Georgian legislation and must be able to provide organization’s statute.
- OPDs must provide evidence that they have sufficient capacity to execute the proposed application and operating experience of minimum one year.
Ineligible
Expenditures such as debts and debt service charges (interest), provision for losses or potential future liabilities, purchases of land or buildings, infrastructure improvement, maintenance, utilities, office rent, overhead, currency exchange losses and similar costs are ineligible for this grant proposal.
