The Embassy of the United States of America in Managua is accepting project proposals for its U.S. Ambassadors’ Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) 2016 competition.
This program has the purpose to support projects to protect and preserve the Nicaraguan culture and patrimony.
Funding Information
The funds to preserve the cultural heritage range from $10,000 to $200,000.00 USD to support projects from 12 to 18 months.
Focus Areas
- Cultural Sites – Such as, but not limited to, historic buildings and archaeological sites.
- Cultural Objects and Collections from a museum, site, or similar institutions – that include, but are not limited to, archaeological and ethnographic objects, paintings, sculpture, manuscripts, and general museum conservation needs; and ,
- Forms of traditional cultural expression – documentation and audiovisual recording of traditional music and dance forms for broad dissemination as the means of teaching and further preserving them, or support for training in the preservation of traditional applied arts or crafts in danger of extinction.
Eligibility Criteria
- NGOs, museums, ministries, foundations, and institutions protecting the cultural heritage.
- The program will give consideration to proposals that can offer sharing costs with local funds and from other sources, such as governmental, international organizations, private sector, etc.
