The United States Agency for International Development in Mali (USAID/Mali) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the FtF Yarnudè.
The overall objective of FtF Mali Yarnudè is to strengthen food security and improve the nutrition of rural populations, as well as to contribute to stability in the Douentza region.
More specifically, the Activity aims at the increased use of the potential of small-scale irrigation for sustainable and economically profitable agriculture in the Inner Delta. It will contribute to achieving the objectives of the Programme National d’Irrigation de Proximité (PNIP) that the US Government is supporting. This Activity will:
- increase agricultural production through access to water for productive use and livestock watering;
- improve the population food security through the increase of nutritious food availability;
- mitigate conflicts amongst farmer and livestock herders by promoting multiple sources of water;
- strengthen the community governance and the capabilities of local institutions.
In achieving these objectives, this Activity aims to improve the lives of 3,870 smallholder farmers and to increase their access to the Irrigation system and 20,000 livestocks will get access to watering troughs in the Douentza region.
Activity Components
- Component 1: Productive water for small scale irrigation and livestock and Processing Establishment
- Expected Results:
- Greater water access and reliability to 4,000 farmers
- Increase in farm production especially rice and vegetables
- Greater water access for livestock
- Improve food quality and nutrition status
- Reduction in conflict between herders and farmers
- Expected Results:
- Component 2: Awareness, Training, Capacity Building, Establishing Farmers, Processors Cooperatives and Local Water User Associations (WUAs)
- Expected Results:
- Community institutions, Farmers Cooperatives, and WUAs possess the human, technical and financial resources to execute their responsibilities under the guiding; sectoral plan with a structure in place to ensure their sustainability adaptation
- Increase in crops revenue and household income
- Increase in women’s income through community gardens and processing units’ operationalization

Funding Information
- USAID intends to award one (1) Cooperative Agreement pursuant to this NOFO. Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the mission, USAID/Mali intends to provide $5,000,000 in total USAID funding over a three-year period. This amount also includes the estimated cost of $1,742,947 for the construction activities.
- The anticipated period of award is three (3) years. The estimated start date will be the effective date of the award.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be non-governmental U.S. and non-U.S. entities, otherwise there is no restriction. Entities such as non-profit organizations, profit making concerns, Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs), Public International Organizations (PIOs), faith-based and community organizations, etc. are eligible to apply.
