The Food Aid Information System, United States Department of Agriculture is seeking applications for its program entitled “McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition” to support feeding of school-aged children, reduce hunger, promote literacy (especially for girls), promote food security and enhance nutrition for mothers and their children in low-income, food-deficit countries committed to education and school meals. The program provides U.S. commodities and financial and technical assistance to achieve these goals.
The program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities, as well as financial and technical assistance, to support school meals and maternal and child nutrition projects.
The McGovern-Dole Program is named in honor of Ambassador and former U.S. Senator George McGovern and former U.S. Senator Robert Dole in recognition of their tireless efforts to eradicate childhood hunger.
Eligibility Criteria
- In accordance with the McGovern-Dole regulations (7 CFR 1599.3), a private voluntary organization, a cooperative, or another organization that is not an intergovernmental organization is eligible to submit an application to become a recipient under McGovern-Dole.
- An entity (including subcontractors/subrecipients) will be considered ineligible if they have been designated by the USG as debarred or suspended in procurements funded by the United States Federal Government or otherwise prohibited by applicable United States law or executive order or United States policies
