The Wakefield Council is excited to invite applications for its Large Culture Grant Program to support significant new creative work, or larger participatory projects with communities, including culturally underserved audiences.
Large grants are open to applications from Charities, CICs, and individual creatives and organisations.
Funding Information
- Grant amount: £5,000 – £10,000
Eligible Activities
- Large grants will support:
- Large scale creative, cultural and heritage projects
- Long term participatory arts projects
- Long term projects that target engagement with culturally under-served audiences
- Match funding for national funding application i.e. Arts Council England
Eligibility Criteria
- Wakefield district based: Culture Grants is funding for Wakefield district. Your organisation must have a registered address within Wakefield district. If you are an individual applying, then your address needs to be your registered home address, or a sole-trader business premises such as a studio.
- Public Liability Insurance: All lead applicants must have insurance in place during the project delivery.
- Safeguarding: If your project works with children or vulnerable adults, you will need to provide evidence of your safeguarding policy.
- Applications must be: Creative or Heritage activity. Culture Grants funding supports arts, culture and heritage projects only. Such as: Art, Circus, Crafts, Dance, Design, Festival, Film, Heritage, Literature/Poetry/Spoken Word, Live Art, Music, Photography, Theatre etc.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Constituted groups and parish or town councils are not eligible to apply.
- They cannot fund individual employees of Wakefield Council, or as a lead applicant for a group. They also cannot fund full-time students, or projects which are part of course work.
- They cannot fund any projects which include elements which are unsafe, illegal, defamatory or discriminatory in any way.
- They cannot fund capital expenditure (i.e. capital equipment such as laptops, or capital building renovations)
- They cannot fund political or religious activity or statements.
Assessment Criteria
- They will assess all eligible applications at a decision panel. They have five elements to their assessment criteria:
- Creative quality
- Public benefit
- Project management
- Budget management
- Supporting Culture Grants 2025 aims.
