West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) is seeking proposals for its Building Local Capacity for Policy Oriented Research in Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation in West Africa (BLOC) Programme with an aim to promote links between Climate research and policy and encourage retention of high quality Climate Scientists in West Africa.
The research proposal must focus on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation issues in West Africa.

Funding Information
WASCAL offers small research grants of between 5,000 to 10,000 euros.
Eligibility Criteria
- WASCAL offers small research grants to groups of individuals, especially young scientists drawn from academia, research and policy institutions, and government, to conduct research in Climate Change thematic areas.
- Priority is given to research teams led by young researchers pursuing a career in government ministries, research and/or teaching at a public institution in West Africa.
- Team work and cross-country research proposals are encouraged.
Application Procedure
Interested applicants need to submit:
- a research proposal of 15-25 pages with clearly defined objectives, problem statement, policy relevance of the study, substantial literature review and a well-outlined analytical framework, as well as pertinent research methodology, a detailed budget and plan of activities.
- Curriculum vitae.

Benin, Burkina Faso, the island of Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the island of Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe and Togo.
