The National Agricultural Leadership Program (NALP) is the flagship leadership and capability development program for young and emerging leaders in Australian agriculture.
This program provides targeted activities and unique experiences in leadership, advocacy, policy development, governance communications and media. It uses a whole-of-agriculture perspective to build networks across industry and create the next generation of leaders for Australian agriculture.
Components
- NALP has three components:
- Advocacy Retreat
- The Advocacy Retreat offers a comprehensive three-day program in Canberra, designed to familiarise participants with agricultural advocacy.
- Learn about NFF advocacy strategies, decision-making processes, and policy development methods.
- Connect with influential stakeholders in agricultural advocacy, government, and politics.
- Engage in a tour of Parliament House and gain insight through meetings with Members of Parliament and Senators.
- Meet industry leaders to expand your network and foster ongoing engagement in agricultural policy.
- Policy Project
- The Policy Project is one of the very important components of the program, offering participants a platform to implement their newfound knowledge.
- Following the workshop, participants will delve into an agricultural issue, crafting a paper and presentation proposing a solution for the NFF. Each participant will receive guidance from relevant NFF Policy Team to refine their ideas.
- Mentoring Program
- As part of the program, participants will be paired with accomplished industry leaders for ongoing mentoring. This unique opportunity enables participants to apply their newly acquired skills under the guidance of experienced professionals. Through this mentorship, participants can navigate challenges and refine their leadership and policy abilities in real-world scenarios.
- Advocacy Retreat
Eligibility Criteria
- The program is targeted at participants aged 35 and under, that have an appetite to be involved in the NFF, member organisations and the broader agriculture sector.
- The program is best suited to those who:
- Aspire to be a leader within agriculture
- Desire to expand networks and leadership knowledge
- Keen to develop personal and professional networks
- Come from or contribute to one of the members networks
- It is desirable applicants have an interest in decision-making processes, policy development and agricultural advocacy.
