SciCom Call for Applications for 8th World Science Forum!

Call for Applications: Africa CDC Youth Pre Conference (#YPC2023)

Deadline: 22 September 2017

SciCom is inviting applications for its 8th World Science Forum with an aim to offer a platform whereby print and audio-visual journalists, editors, bloggers and social media can rub shoulders with speakers and delegates to discuss and report on the latest scientific, policy and civil society developments worldwide.

After the highly successful 2015 World Science Forum held in Budapest, Hungary, the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan will host the 2017 biennial event themed ‘Science for Peace’. Organising partners include the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA); the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organisation (UNESCO); the International Council for Science (ICSU); the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS); the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS); the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC); the International Social Science Council (ISSC) and the Inter-Academy Partnership (IAP).

WSF 2017 also serves as a significant G77 Sustainability Update meeting around World Science Day for Peace & Development as they engage the world of science and redefine the global potential of scientific communities and policymakers to bring real change to our interlinked societies.

WSF 2017 is expanding to include 8 main plenaries focussed on pressing global issues around the main conference theme. These are further backed up by 15 thematic sessions looking at specific technical aspects, while the breadth and depth of conference partners and invited civil society and policy-making groups are reflected in over 10 special sessions. In addition, WSF 2017 will have a strong exhibition focus with poster sessions, stands and thematic side-events, plus a vibrant social programme.
