Rise Against Hunger: Call for Expressions of Interest for Emergency Response Portfolio

Deadline: 31 March 2019

Rise Against Hunger has announced a call for Expressions of Interest for the Emergency Response portfolio.

Applications will be assessed by an evaluation committee to identify prospective partners that have the mandate, capacities and comparative advantage to support achievement of results from communities affected by an emergency and/or crisis. If successful in its application for the Expression of Interest, prospective partners will be contacted to submit a concept note in the event an emergency or crisis affects their country/countries of implementation.

Rise Against Hunger is driven by the vision of world without hunger. The mission is to end hunger in lifetime by providing food  and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and by creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. RAH has a growing portfolio of programs aimed at eliminating chronic hunger and malnutrition around the world through sustainable community development that addresses the drivers of food insecurity. RAH is committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of ending hunger by 2030.

RAH responds to sudden and ongoing crises to meet immediate needs of affected populations and support the transition toward recovery. They have responded to emergencies by providing grants or by delivering food assistance, nutrition, and other commodities to those displaced by natural disasters and man-made crises. In building the resilience of vulnerable people, RAH works hand-in-hand with a host of organizations to ensure that meals and other life- changing aid can reach communities in crisis effectively and according to need.

Criteria

  • RAH particularly encourage applications from the following geographical regions and countries: Southern Africa, Western Africa, South Asia, Haiti, and the Philippines.
  • Applications will be assessed by an evaluation committee to identify prospective partners that have the mandate, capacities, and comparative advantage to support achievement of results for communities affected by an emergency and/or crisis, using criteria.
  • It should be noted, however, that participation to this Call for Expression of Interest does not guarantee the prospective partner will be ultimately selected for partnership with RAH, particularly because RAH’s Emergency Response portfolio provides assistance to communities affected by an emergency and/or crisis.
  • If successful in its application for the Expression of Interest, prospective partners will be contacted to submit a concept note in the event an emergency or crisis affects their country/countries of implementation.
  • For non-crisis related partnership opportunities with RAH. Selected prospective partners will be notified that they were successful and asked to collaborate in drafting a MOU for possible future partnership. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified quarterly.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria will be based on the following:

  • Geographic scope of the organization (30%)
  • Institutional capacity (40%);
  • Application relevance, quality, and coherence (30%)

How to Apply

  • Organizations that wish to participate in this Call for Expression of Interest are requested to send applications via email at the address given on the website, with the subject line: “Call for Expression of Interest”.

PsychCare Humaniterex Foundation ( Centre for rehabilitation & Health Promotion) located in No.24, Line 2D, Aladanla, Osun State Nigeria. As part of our program we give food to widows, orphans, abandoned frail aged, and vagrants on the street. We pick drug addicts from the street for rehabilitation and there millions of them found in every settlement in Nigeria. The terrorism hit areas of Plateau, Benue and Kaduna with over 2 million displaced people living in IDF camps. Sincerely, there are millions of people living in hunger here. Government is owing workers their salaries and dependants are more than the workers. This itself is a crisis situation driving many young girls to prostitution to source for feeding. Please, respond

Hello. I’m the ceo of Shelters International Disaster Response Society. We have access to 3,000,000 meals each year and supply each community with seed. Is this a grant for logistics support? As we have been delivering relief in Haiti for 10 years.

We have access to 3,000,000 meals every year plus we provide seed along with the food delivery. Fuel for farmers. Our only hiccup is logistics. Does this grant apply to this need. We have already been doing so but find the logistics challenging funds wise

i also request for an opportunity in Uganda we currently have famine and poverty in any parts of the country

  • Solomon says:

    Dear Ritu at fundsforNGOs
Really, it’s a good program as per its vision/aims, but if actually you want to positively address the issues you have stated, must it be through NGO? Why not formed your own contact points in the affected areas/region that will carryout your mission effectively? In my state, Adamawa, Nigeria, more than hundreds NGO have registered to curb the same situations, but with latent positive impact. I’m from MIchika L..G Adamawa State, North eastern part of Nigeria. This L.G.is among the area worst hit by insurgency and i’m still living in that area with my family, but i have never receive any assistance as airing by NGO and other Bodies. My people are still dying of hunger and poverty, where are the NGOs? Even if assistance is rendered there is little justification if at all it exist. Pls, form your own contact point with those who are facing that challenges if you are really out to help.

    • Ritu at fundsforNGOs says:

      Hi Solomon,

We understand how difficult it is to secure donor funding.
Donors receive thousands of applications from NGOs around the world and it may not be that easy for them to respond to each one of them. Fundraising is a long and tiring process but feeds us with new learnings and understanding.
At this point, we may not be able to guarantee anything, but we will try our best to help you reach out to the best donors.
Please find some great opportunities for Nigeria by visiting https://www2.fundsforngos.org/tag/Nigeria/
